BCD earns EcoVadis Platinum sustainability rating for sixth consecutive year
The TMC maintains top-tier recognition amid rising sustainability standards
UTRECHT, The Netherlands, Sept. 18, 2025 – BCD Travel has once again achieved the highest possible rating from EcoVadis, earning a Platinum medal for the sixth consecutive year. This independent recognition positions BCD among the top 1% of more than 150,000 companies assessed worldwide for their environmental, social and ethical performance.
The Platinum rating reflects BCD’s ongoing commitment to advancing sustainability across its global operations. Over the past year, the company made significant investments and operational improvements, including a new supplier due diligence process, increased renewable electricity used in its offices, and the launch of a new sustainability solution for clients.
“Achieving Platinum for the sixth year in a row is a testament to the dedication of our teams around the world and our commitment to integrating sustainable goals into our 2030 Blueprint for Success, BCD’s guiding business strategy,” said Olivia Ruggles-Brise, BCD’s vice president of Sustainability. “EcoVadis has raised the bar, and rightly so. Their updated scoring principles push companies to go beyond compliance and demonstrate real impact. We’re proud to be recognized for our progress and remain committed to driving meaningful change.”
The EcoVadis assessment evaluates sustainability practices across four key areas: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement – topics that are increasingly vital for corporations, their employees, and society at large. BCD’s 2025 Sustainability Report outlines progress in each of these areas over the past year. Highlights include:
- 69.3% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions, and 20.8% reduction in Scope 3 emissions compared to a 2019 baseline
- 33% renewable electricity use across majority-owned markets, with a goal of 100% globally by 2030
- 97% of employees completed mandatory human trafficking awareness training, reinforcing BCD’s commitment to labor and human rights
- 40% of top-spend suppliers assessed using a new tool to strengthen supplier due diligence
- Launch of an industry-first, end-to-end sustainability solution, offering carbon calculations, sustainability messaging at point-of-sale, and seamless carbon fee collection for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and offsetting contributions
This recognition, combined with BCD’s progress and alignment with global initiatives such as the UN Global Compact, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and CDP, reinforces the company’s reputation as a sustainable supplier of choice for clients seeking responsible travel partners.
EcoVadis’ updated methodology now places greater emphasis on measurable outcomes, stakeholder engagement, and alignment with global frameworks such as the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
