BCD Travel, a leading global travel management company, has announced a leadership change in its Japan operations. Jonathan Kao, the current Managing Director for Greater China, will assume an expanded role as the Managing Director for North Asia, effective January 1, 2024. In this capacity, Jonathan will oversee BCD Travel's operations in China, Hong Kong, and Japan.
For the fourth consecutive year, BCD Travel has received a Platinum rating from EcoVadis, the world’s largest and most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings. With this Platinum rating, the travel management company (TMC) maintains its position in the top 1% of the 100,000+ companies assessed by EcoVadis. BCD surveys reveal travel buyer priorities and traveler behaviors toward environmental sustainability in business travel
BCD Travel recently surveyed more than 100 travel buyers and almost 1,800 business travelers to gauge the importance of environmental sustainability in business travel. While 82% of companies have sustainability goals in place, only 45% have targets for sustainable business travel. Furthermore, only 20% of business travelers are aware of their company’s sustainable travel goals.

According to a recent BCD Travel survey of 164 travel buyers worldwide, the importance of travel and expense spend management has increased in priority, reaching its highest level since 2020. In 2023, 88% of buyers regarded payment & expense management as “very important” or “extremely important,” compared to 76% in 2021.
