BCD names new sales leader to drive U.K. and Ireland growth

UTRECHT, The Netherlands, March 4, 2026 – BCD Travel today announced the appointment of James Diaz as vice president, Sales, U.K. and Ireland (UKI), reinforcing the company’s commitment to driving sustainable growth across the region.

In his new role, Diaz will lead and develop a high-performing regional team, strengthen BCD’s market presence, and expand into high-potential segments. He will also play an active leadership role in supporting growth across the energy, resources and marine sector.

Diaz’s nearly 25 years of experience in the travel industry spans ground transportation, payments and travel management company (TMC) environments. Most recently, he served as U.K. CEO of Travel Planet before establishing Absolute Travel Management, a TMC startup focusing on small and medium-sized enterprises. As founder, Diaz defined its strategic direction, operational infrastructure, supplier partnerships and service standards – experience that directly aligns with BCD’s client-first approach and focus on long-term partnerships. Earlier in his career, he worked closely with Fortune 500 companies and led cross-functional teams to deliver high-value travel management solutions. He has developed deep understanding of what corporate travel buyers need today: clarity, reliability, and solutions that balance technology-driven efficiency with expert guidance.

BCD has maintained a strong presence in UKI since 2006, serving approximately 500 customers across sectors including media and entertainment, financial and professional services, life sciences, automotive, and retail. As the second largest travel market in Europe, UKI presents a significant growth opportunity. Diaz’s appointment supports BCD’s broader ambition to expand its U.K. footprint by 2030.

“Customers in the region are looking for stability, partnership and innovation more than ever,” said Claudia Jackson, BCD’s managing director for the U.K. and Ireland. “James understands how to translate strategy into real-world results for customers. Combined with our open technology platform and the expertise of our people, we’re uniquely positioned to help clients simplify complexity and make confident decisions.”

“I see growing demand for integrated, end-to-end travel solutions that combine technology with service,” said Diaz. “BCD meets customers where they are and collaborates to develop strong travel programs. I was drawn to BCD because of its reputation in the industry, vision for the future, and a culture that values experience and accountability. I’m excited to bring my experience to BCD to accelerate growth in the U.K. and Ireland.”

“The U.K. and Ireland markets are highly relationship driven,” said Lisa McKenzie, senior vice president of Global Sales for EMEA at BCD. “James brings deep industry knowledge, strong commercial leadership and a proven ability to advocate for corporate travel needs. His entrepreneurial mindset and direct client experience will help us continue delivering meaningful value as we grow.”

Diaz joined BCD on Feb. 16 and reports to McKenzie. He is based in London.
