BCD Travel bolsters midmarket TMC strategy

UTRECHT, The Netherlands, July 21, 2022 – In a move to further strengthen its midmarket presence, BCD Travel has appointed David Mitchell as president of BCD Travel Midmarket in North America.

Mitchell continues to serve as president of World Travel Service (WTS) in Knoxville, Tenn., reporting into BCD Travel Americas President Craig Bailey, but now also oversees BCD Travel’s two other wholly owned midmarket TMCs, Acendas Travel and Adelman Travel Group. Each provides unique offerings while collectively taking advantage of BCD’s global buying power and technology solutions.

Mitchell has over 36 years of business travel experience and a proven record for driving growth. Before joining WTS in 2020, Mitchell held a variety of senior roles throughout his career including senior vice president of Supplier Relations, Americas, for BCD Travel for more than 13 years.

“Dave is a perfect fit to oversee our aggressive growth plans in the midmarket,” Bailey said. “The midmarket has bounced back quickly from the downturn in travel, and we expect that expansion to continue at a rapid clip. Dave is well-positioned to help us navigate the opportunities ahead.”

“The small- to medium-sized corporate travel segment is rebounding faster than the large market, which is what we anticipated and is why BCD is further investing in its midmarket strategy,” said Mitchell. “Acendas, Adelman and World Travel Service each have an individual identity and culture, tailoring their solutions to the specific and niche needs of their customers. That’s why it’s important to maintain and grow these distinctive brands.” Included in BCD’s midmarket investment strategy are the evaluation and potential acquisition of additional midmarket TMCs and technology companies.

Recently, Adelman Travel Group announced the appointment of new President and COO Jason Horstman. Horstman leads the corporate and vacation divisions across the organization, which include Adelman Corporate, Adelman Vacations, Food & Wine Trails and Chamber Discoveries.

Brent Blake will continue in his role as president of Acendas Travel. Both he and Horstman report to Mitchell, who will work with both leaders to fine-tune the future direction of the three companies.
